October studio

Yesterday I documented some recent experiments in the studio with my good friend Morgan. She also took photos of me while I worked. 

My research right now centres on spaces of transition which mark migrations — the immigration website, the temporary dwelling, the packed room. Recently I read Giorgio Agamben on Hannah Arendt (who I've been reading all year) and her concept of “stateless persons,” which has been a catalyst for new work. I'm trying to trace pathways in the no man’s land of places between named territories and to build fragile conglomerate paper constructions which inhabit these spaces. I plan for the drawings and prints I'm making to become malleable surfaces which could be walls, landscapes, blankets, or other tools for making a living place.
